One of the remaining building from 19th century that was built as a boarding house for missionaries sent by American Methodist Association. In 1892 when George Heber Jones who was a methodist christian missionary tried to make this area a missionary base bought the land in 1893 and built 3 sections of houses until 1894. |

Main Building of Young Wha elementary school

Current school building of Young Wha school was built for modern education based on missionary purpose. They bought 1,226 pyoung of land in Woo Gak Hyun in 1909 and started construction on March 30th, 1910 for 3 story high and gross area of 212 pyoung school building and finished on September 14th, 1911 Arrangement of school building had surrounding view due to highly positioned floors up on the hill and play ground positioned in the south had made view opportunity which was rare at the time. Excluding the part added to construction it has been well preserved in its original form and it is the building constructed with traditional red brick each of them sized average of 227x109x59. Brickwork was done in the way where at the end or corner, halves were not used instead, they used 7.5 Block which is stretching bond then on to heading bond and finalized with dutch bond. |

In Cheon Maritime Customs (current In Cheon Customs) was established on June 16th, 1883 and 1st Chief of maritime customs was English man named "String Fling" and for 2nd Chief was "Shenike-Sa Nap Ki(史納機)". Maritime customs system was introduced under the influence of Tsing Dynasty at the time. This document is estimated to be a part of official letter sent by 2nd chief of maritime customs "SheNiKe(Sa Nap Ki,史納機 ) during his term to In Cheon Administration Office from In Cheon Maritime Customs regarding various countries settlement promotion around current Joong Gu area and it is a rare piece of data of personal signature of She Ni Ke and year and date signed and document number. |
